Muskoka Cottage Guest Reviews
Hi Garson,
We had a camping trip immediately after our Mellow Yellow stay, then back to school (we start early, here in Quebec), but I managed to get feedback from the group and here is our review:
This is our second time at Mellow Yellow — for a reunion of three siblings spread across the country, their spouses and kids — and even though several years had passed, our memory served us well and we were not disappointed.
The location is fantastic, right on the water, with a nice big dock, fire pit, a good supply of outdoor chairs, two kayaks and a canoe. It’s also just minutes away from all shopping needs – grocery, pharmacy, hardware, and liquor stores, gas, Starbucks, library and even a Costco within a half-hour drive. We rented a jet ski, which was delivered to a boat launch just minutes away.
The house is large and spacious, with big rooms where everyone can gather, but also plenty of spaces to be away from the group. A big dining table is lovely for eating and playing board games. The big screened-in porch provides even more spaces to gather or sit quietly.
The kitchen is large and well stocked, with two fridges (each with a freezer), lots of dishes and cutlery, all the utensils, appliances, pots and pans we needed, bowls, trays – and even a stovetop espresso maker.
The bedrooms are great, some larger than others, with comfortable beds, and storage space in the hall. Bedside lighting was the only thing missing. The bed configurations were great for us, with teen cousins able to share spaces.
A last important detail: Leading up to our stay, and then while we were at Mellow Yellow, I had a few questions come up. Each time I emailed, Garson replied within less than 24 hours, which was greatly appreciated.
It’s really an amazing place. We hope we can come back again for another family reunion.

Wow, Mellow Yellow is a terrific vacation Cottage. It is our second time there and it keeps getting better and better.
The new dock is nice and large and accommodates a fair amount of people and has easy step downstairs to the sandy beach.
When we first arrived, the first thing a lot of our family said, was how neat and clean it was, and it really was.
Air conditioning was more than adequate. There’s a lot of space inside the cottage for people to relax and even maybe get away from other people if you need to… LOL.
The kitchen counter space was plentiful and allowed a number of people to do food prep all at the same time.
The new Barbeques worked very well, which was important because we probably barbecued half of our meals there.
This Cottage will certainly be at the top of our list for future vacations

Mellow Yellow was the perfect place to spend a week with family and friends. We spent lots of time on the large dock, around the campfire and on the screened in porch. We also enjoyed making many tasty dinners in the bright and charming large kitchen. The bedrooms and cottage offered lots of space for all of us to relax in. Garson was a great host! Always responded within minutes. Thank you!

Had an amazing time at Mellow Yellow with family. The cottage itself absolutely exceeded our expectations in terms of size and space – we especially loved the great room and the screened porch! The kitchen was fully equipped and all the main rooms had lots of seating for everyone. Everything was clean and in great condition and the beds were very comfortable. Garson was always available and helpful whenever we had a question or concern. We spent most of our days on the large dock – the swimming was great and the waterfront was especially safe for younger children! We made great use of the canoe and kayaks, and enjoyed campfires every night. Thank you Garson – we made many special family memories and look forward to returning soon.

Mellow Yellow is an absolute gem – a spacious waterfront property with a cozy feel that we have visited for a number of years. The cottage is large and beautifully decorated with a blend of modern features and rustic charm. The large family room and screened porch are comfortable hang outs before heading to the family-sized dining room table. The air-conditioned bedrooms make sleeping comfortable on hot summer nights. We always find the property to be clean and stocked with useful products to make our stay comfortable (garbage bags, toilet paper, soap, etc.). The kitchen is well out-fitted with cookware and utensils. Outside the dock, raft, firepit and multiple BBQs add to the cottage experience. Swimming is complimented by the supplied kayaks and fishing gear, Lots of games and movies for those rainy days.
The cottage is on a quiet part of Gull Lake but shopping and restaurants are just minutes away in Gravenhurst. A wonderful property!!

My husband, 3 adult children and their significant others recently spent a glorious week at Mellow Yellow. We rented a boat from Northern Lakes Marine and spent the week, skiing, tubing and swimming in Gull lake which is just steps from the cottage. We even found time for a couple rounds of golf at Taboo and Muskoka Bay golf courses – both spectacular! Gravenhurst offers everything we needed so we didn’t have to worry about packing and transporting a lot of food.
The cottage has a large great room where our whole group could gather in the evenings, a large dining area and plenty of bedrooms and space to spread out. It is very well maintained and has all the charm and character you would expect of Muskoka cottage.

Mellow Yellow is a beautiful and spacious cottage, very clean, well equipped and maintained. The large screened-in wraparound porch was a perfect area for dining (without bugs!), reading and just hanging out rain or shine. The view of Gull Lake was magnificent, and was only steps from the cottage. We enjoyed exploring it with the kayaks provided. The upstairs bedrooms were very comfortable and have air conditioning, which was welcome on a few warm evenings. Overall, we truly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend this retreat to anyone.

Greg (Sept 2019)We spent 2 weeks at Mellow Yellow, our family members ranged from 2.5 years to 90 years of age. There were 10 of us, we did not feel cramped, lots of room for all. The ground floor was perfect for my elderly parents with good access to washrooms & bed room. Getting in & out from the cottage was easy for them as well. For the grandchildren they could swim off the dock with lovely walk into the lake.
The area is peaceful, the cottage is tucked among tall pines. We arrived & were greeted by friendly cleaning staff, the cottage was clean & tidy. Garson was always friendly & cooperative with us from the initial booking & communicated with us during our stay to ensure that everything was to our satisfaction.
We would go back again.
